Cuba provides both pot and column distilled golden rum aged 3 and 5 years respectively. Secondly, the Dominican Republic contributes an un-aged "fresh" rum that is finely blended with a sweet and smooth 5 year old pot distilled rum from Barbados.
A pumped up take on a classic cocktail. First, chill your tall glass with ice and set to one side. Take a shaker, half fill with ice and then add: - 50ml Sun Rum - 100ml pineapple & mango juice - 150ml coconut cream Shake for 20 seconds and strain into your chilled glass that is two thirds full with fresh crushed ice (cubed is ok) - Drizzle about 15ml hazelnut syrup over the top and garnish with a slice of pineapple.
This simple yet amazing cocktail blends 2 classics. First take a tall glass and half fill with ice cubes, the cola. Get your shaker, fill with 4 or 5 ice cubes then 25ml or Sun Rum and 25ml of pineapple juice. Shake for 10 seconds or so. Pour the mix over the iced cola and garnish with a pineapple leaf.
A delicious sweet treat! Take a classic shaker and fill a third with ice, then add: - 50ml Sun Rum - 1 x espresso shot - 1 x heaped tsp of dark cocoa powder - 100ml full fat milk Shake for 20 seconds until it is mighty cold to touch. Strain into a hi-ball glass, add fresh ice and top with 50ml of double cream Garnish with a chocolate flake and enjoy!!
Another twist on a popular cocktail, enhancing more flavours. This is a strong one! Get your shaker and half fill with cubed ice. Then add in: - 25ml Sun Rum - 25ml Mary Rose Gin - 25ml Triple Sec - 25ml Black Cow Strawberry Vodka - 25ml Olmeca Silver Tequila - Half a squeezed lime Shake together for 20 seconds until very cold Pour into glass and top up with cola. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a wedge of lime and "voila!"
The syrup (make separately - 10 drinks worth) - 250ml still water - equal amount of demerara sugar - 10 mint leaves - 4 tbl runny honey - juice of 1 lime and bring to the boil in a pan. Take it off the heat and let it cool. Once cooled strain and bottle this to keep. The Mojito: Take a shaker and add: - 50ml Sun Rum - juice of one lime - 10 mint leaves. - 25ml sugar syrup and muddle together Fill half with cubed ice and shake for 10 secs. Fill tall glass 2/3 with crushed ice, strain and pour mixture over. Top up with soda water and garnish with mint leaves and a lime wedge.
A new original! - Take a rocks glass and fill half way with crushed ice. (place in the freezer for 2 minutes too!) - Fill a shaker a third with cubed ice then add: - 50ml Sun Rum - 1 egg white - Half a squeezed lime juice - Shake for 20 seconds until the shaker is ice cold to touch - Get your glass and 75ml of ginger beer and 75ml cranberry juice, then stir slowly - Pour your lime, rum and egg white mix slowly into your glass - Garnish with a lime wedge and a small sprig of mint if you have it.
- Take a classic shaker and fill a third with ice - Add 75ml of Sun rum followed by: - 100ml of orange juice - 50ml of mango / pineapple juice - 50ml sugar syrup - 50ml squeezed lime juice - 3 dashes of Angostura Bitters - Shake for 10 seconds and pour through a strainer into a freshly iced glass. - Top with 20ml of grenadine - Garnish with a mango or orange slice and enjoy!
This is a combination of Sun Rum, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup and egg white. Place all ingredients (more info below) in to a shaker. Dance for 10 seconds until you feel it's shaken enough! Open, add ice, close, shake for 20 seconds until the touch is mighty cold. Then strain into a martini glass and "voila!" - 50ml Sun Rum - 20ml syrup (sugar, hot water, then mix and leave to cool) - 1 egg white - 20ml squeezed lemon juice
An original Sun Rum recipe and it's a heavy one. First, take a martini glass, chill with ice or in a freezer. Then moisten the rim and dip in white sugar. Take a shaker and add: - 10 x mint leaves - 50ml Sun Rum (then muddle rum and mint) - 150ml rose wine - 25ml Tatratea apple & pear liqueur - Half fill with ice cubes and shake for 20 seconds Strain slowly into your martini glass and garnish with a sliced strawberry, voila!
